The highly-anticipated India vs Pakistan match of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 is at risk of being jeopardised by a ‘dangerous’ pitch.

Two World Cup matches have been played on the drop-in pitch, but there are clear signs, especially in the variable bounce, indicating the surface hasn't settled.

"It's not the best of pitches. T20 cricket usually favors batters, but this one favour bowlers for the wrong reasons. It's spongy, and the occasional delivery bounces unpredictably high or stays low.

It doesn't make for enjoyable viewing," former Indian cricketer Dinesh Karthik told Cricbuzz.

Renowned commentator Harsha Bhogle shared similar concerns, stating, "It could get dangerous. Karthik was polite; it's not ideal. We saw a delivery go over a lower-order batsman's head. It's perilous at this level."

India clinched an eight-wicket victory against Ireland in their Group A encounter at the venue.

Earlier, India's bowlers restricted Ireland to 96 runs.

Paul Stirling's 26 runs were the highlight for Ireland, but their batting failed to impress against India's exceptional bowling performance.
