Imagine Dragons' Dan Reynolds reveals concert delays due to playing League of Legends

Imagine Dragons is not “going around knocking on doors" for opportunities.

Dan Reynolds, the Imagine Dragons’ lead vocalist, shared his fondness for gaming in an interview with The Washington Post, revealing the hobby has caused the band to delay its own concerts.

"We’ve been late onstage because we’re playing League of Legends,’' Reynolds told the outlet of the multiplayer online battle game. 

Imagine Dragons has a track record of partnering with video game companies. Various songs by the band have appeared in advertisements for gaming brands such as Ubisoft, Epic Games, Nintendo, Riot Games (the creators of League of Legends), and others.

The band's initial collaboration with a gaming company occurred roughly ten years ago. They served as the accompanying instrumentalists for Nintendo composer Koji Kondo at the Game Awards held in Las Vegas.

"I geeked out harder on that than when we played in front of [Paul] McCartney," said Imagine Dragons’ frontman, who grew up listening to Kondo's work for Super Mario World.

When it comes to working with major gaming brands, the band is not "going around knocking on doors" for opportunities, shared Reynolds, "They just started reaching out, and we said, 'Absolutely, this is amazing.'"

"Look, I’m really tall, 6 foot 4, never played sports, always did music and drama, so people probably think I’m not a gamer, but it’s my bread and butter," Reynolds continued. "It's our world."

Imagine Dragons will be releasing a new album, Loom, on June 28.
