T20 World Cup 2024: Pakistan team's hotel in New York changed after PCB chief's intervention

The Pakistan Cricket team's hotel in New York has been changed to address logisital challenges faced by the GreenShirts.

Mohsin Naqvi, the Chairman of PCB, has raised concerns regarding the accommodation arrangements for the Pakistan cricket team in New York that led to a change in the team's hotel, according to sources.

Initially faced with a hotel situated 90 minutes away from the stadium, the team will now be staying just a five-minute drive away.

Unhappy with the initial accommodation, Naqvi reached out to the ICC and successfully advocated for the relocation of the team to a more convenient location.

Naqvi made it clear to the ICC that he would not tolerate long commutes for his team during the T20 World Cup matches, including those scheduled for June 9 and 11 in New York.

He stressed to the ICC that if the hotel situation wasn't rectified, he would ensure the team's comfort by arranging for their relocation at the PCB's expense.

It's worth noting that while the Indian team was accommodated a mere 10 minutes from the ground, other teams, such as South Africa and Sri Lanka, had also expressed concerns about their lodging, which was over an hour away from the stadium.

The Pakistan cricket team will depart for New York immediately after their match against the USA on Thursday.

Their upcoming fixtures include matches against India on June 9, Canada on June 11, and their final first-round match against Ireland on June 16.
