Punjab Police trace ‘90 fugitives in K-P’
The Punjab Police have made a written demand to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police for the arrest and han- dover of around 90 fugitives as it widens its crackdown against people accused of committing acts of vandal- ism on May 9, 2023.
“The locations of 89 such accused have been traced. These fugitives wanted in the May 9 cases have been found hiding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P),” Imran Kishwar—the Organized Crime Unit (OCU) deputy inspector general—told a press conference in Lahore on Tuesday.
According to the officer, among those taking refuge in K-P—a province ruled by
the PTI party—are several PTI leaders, including Mian Aslam Iqbal and Hammad Azhar.
“A list of fugitives taking refuge in the province has been sent to the K-P Police. An effective strategy will be formulated for the arrest of the fugitives as there are possibilities of resistance during the arrests,” he added.
Officials also told the media that the Punjab Police has decided to start a large-scale crackdown for the arrest of 320 suspects wanted in the May 9 cases and assigned the task to the operations, investigation, and organized crime units.
They said the 320 suspects include both previously and newly named individuals.
