WATCH: Tom Cruise nearly hijacks Rishi Sunak's car in awkward mix-up

Tom Cruise's near-carjacking of the Prime Minister's ride leaves London in stitches.

Tom Cruise had a hilarious mix-up in London this week when he almost got into Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's car.

The 61-year-old Top Gun star has been touring the UK while filming the latest Mission Impossible installment. Last Wednesday, he was spotted waving to fans as he walked toward the car park at London Heliport in Battersea. 

Dressed in a light grey polo shirt and black trousers, Tom approached a black Audi, only to realize it wasn’t his ride.

As he tried to open the door, a driver quickly pointed him to the correct vehicle right next to it. Tom waved at fans before hopping into his car, laughing off the mix-up.

Ironically, hours later, the Prime Minister himself stepped into the same car that had confused Tom.

Sunak, who was on an election campaign trip, had just returned to London and was whisked away in the Audi Tom had initially mistaken for his own.

It's not every day that the Prime Minister and an A-list actor share a parking lot—and nearly a car!
