PESHAWAR:

A gang of female thieves has been targeting commuters of Peshawar's BRT, depriving the passengers of 15 to 20 mobile phones daily.

A report by Peshawar police has unveiled the gang that is responsible for looting mobile phones worth Rs 300,000 to Rs 400,000 on a daily basis.

The report identified 22 women who have been involved in criminal activities across 10 stations along the BRT route in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Peshawar city.

Authorities have now resorted to publicly displaying the pictures of the thieves at BRT stations.

Police say the arrested women are using counterfeit identity cards showing various regions of Punjab including Nowshera as the location of issuance.

Criminal authorities added that even after being arrested the gang members were able to continue their operations by using these counterfeit id cards.
