A video of a drill instructor ASI Haq Nawaz stationed at the Islamabad Police Line Headquarters surfaced on Monday slapping a trainee during an anti-riots course.
The incident prompted outrage and in response, fellow trainers protested against the act of violence.
Inspector General (IG) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir, took immediate action upon the video, suspending the drill instructor and ordering to shut the operation.
“Such behavior towards trainees would not be tolerated under any circumstances. If anyone makes a mistake, they will be given departmental punishment according to the law” stated IG Islamabad.
