K-P governor meets PM, proposes Chashma canal funding

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Governor Faisal Karim Kundi met with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday to discuss the province's political situation and address pressing issues, including a severe power crisis causing unrest among the population.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Kundi revealed that he proposed allocating funds for the Chashma Right Canal to the prime minister.

He also addressed the incidents involving PTI protesters entering grid stations and tampering with electricity switches, stating that such actions will not resolve the underlying problems.

“Turning switches on or off is easy, but if the provincial government [of the PTI] is turned off once, it will never turn back on,” warned Kundi, a member of the PPP.

Kundi emphasized the importance of resolving issues through dialogue, asserting that conflicts do not yield results, but collaboration does.

He noted that K-P Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, who belongs to the PTI, listened to his concerns during their discussion. Kundi also met with the interior minister to address these issues.

The Governor highlighted the discrepancies between the province's actual situation and its portrayal on social media, urging the chief minister to pay closer attention to this gap.

Governor Kundi reiterated that he has no conflicts with anyone, including CM Gandapur, and expressed his willingness to engage in discussions with leaders of any political party to find solutions.

He reaffirmed his commitment to work for the province's progress, emphasizing that he will not allow obstacles to hinder development. He vowed to fight for the province's progress.

Governor Kundi expressed his dedication to serving the youth and promised visible results soon.

Regarding statements with regard to possible imposition of the governor’s rule in the province, he clarified that “those [the PTI] which are raising alarm bells in this regard actually want this eventuality”. “We will, however, not allow them to turn into political martyrs,” he added.

He urged JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to discuss matters based on facts and evidence, adding that the Maulana had himself accepted that in the K-P the government had a real mandate.
