The ongoing feud between Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo has persisted for three years, stemming from accusations that Olivia used Taylor's work in her single "Deja Vu."
Although the issue was swiftly resolved with Taylor receiving a percentage of the royalties and her name added to the song’s credits, rumors of ongoing tension between them have persisted ever since.
Insiders have informed The UK Sun that the underlying tension between the duo has once again reached a critical level, with British pop star Griff caught in the middle.
On Sunday, it was revealed that Griff would be joining Taylor's Era's tour as a supporting artist for its UK leg.
However, individuals within Taylor's team have informed the press that Griff had to create some distance from Olivia in order to seize the opportunity, even going as far as withdrawing from the launch of Olivia's second album, Guts, last September to maintain Taylor's favor.
An insider elaborated, stating: “Griff became close to Olivia when they hung out at the Brits together.
“When Griff’s team were told about the approach from Taylor, Griff was advised that distancing herself from Olivia might be the best course of action.”
"Supporting Taylor on her Eras tour is a massive opportunity for her and they didn’t want anything stopping that happening.”
“Griff had been due to go to the launch party for Guts but was advised to give it a wide berth.”
“It’s been hard for Olivia because she really gets on with Griff. She knows too it isn’t Griff’s fault, it just feels like a shame to her.”
Following the inclusion of Taylor, along with longtime collaborator Jack Antonoff and St. Vincent, in the credits and receiving a share of the profits from "Deja Vu," Olivia's fans were outraged.
