King Charles is expected to extend an invitation to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to join him at Balmoral this summer, though he is certain they will decline, according to royal expert Tom Quinn.

The monarch traditionally spends his summers in Balmoral Castle in Scotland, often inviting members of the Royal Family to join him.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have only visited Balmoral Castle once since stepping down as senior royals.

Quinn suggested that while King Charles will uphold tradition by inviting the couple, he expects them to refuse.

"King Charles will issue the traditional invitation to Harry and Meghan to spend part of the summer at Balmoral, but safe in the knowledge that Harry and Meghan will make their excuses and decline," Quinn told the Mirror.

Quinn added that Meghan is unlikely to return to the UK without an apology she has long demanded, unless a dire situation arises, such as severe illness or death within the royal family.

He also noted that Prince Harry’s childhood memories of Balmoral might not be enough to sway their decision.

"Charles has hinted to Harry and Meghan that they [Harry and Meghan] should come to Balmoral to address the ongoing family feud," Quinn said.

"The recent health scares of both Charles and Kate might increase the chances of a positive response from the couple. It’s one of those situations where good might just come out of bad."

Whether Harry and Meghan will reconsider their stance remains uncertain, but the invitation underscores King Charles’s continued hope for reconciliation within the family.
