Young singers enthral audience with musical talent

PAC organises contest to encourage artistic skills among aspiring singers

A music competition was organised at the District Council Hall under the auspices of the Punjab Arts Council (PAC), Chakwal.

Several candidates from all over Chakwal participated in the competition. Students and other participants entertained the audience with their singing and musical skills.

The chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony of the music competition was the Chakwal Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue, Khawar Bashir Ahmed, was. The Arts Council Director, Sajjad Hussain, Assistant Director Muhammad Suleman, Assistant Director Muhammad Tauheed and Assistant Admin Officer Muhammad Farhan were also present along with the chief guest.

Addressing the candidates, the chief guest said that the organisation of a music competition by the Punjab Arts Council in Chakwal was a welcome step. “The youth of Chakwal are unparalleled in the art of music. The classical families present in the district have produced many renowned singers who have made the country proud at national and international levels,” he said.

In the end, the chief guest assured that the district administration will always continue to support the Punjab Arts Council for the promotion of arts and culture. Director Sajjad Hussain expressed gratitude to the Deputy Commissioner Quratul Ain Malik, the chief guest, the police as well as the district administration for their cooperation.

He stated that music nurtures intellectual skills, creative abilities and healthy emotions within a person. “Music broadens human consciousness, promotes aesthetic sense and peace and irrigates the barren mindset of society with its melodies, thereby creating a thoughtful and understanding society.,” he said.

Among all those who participated in the competition, Mishal Malik secured the first position, Shuja Haider placed second and Mehak Ali came third. The judges for the competition were Afzal Latifi, Nawazish Ali Hazrovi and Rubina Khanum. The children who secured positions were awarded 10, 20 and 15 thousand rupees respectively.

The music competition for Rawalpindi district will be held today at the Punjab Arts Council Rawalpindi.
