Red Tape: LHC seeks copy of revenue stamp order
Assistant advocate general told the court that the order had been issued in 1995 by the then chief justice of the LHC.
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Tuesday directed an assistant advocate general to bring to court the order of a former chief justice making it mandatory for petitioners to attach a Rs3 revenue stamp to each page of petitions filed at the court.
On Wednesday, an assistant advocate general told the court that the order had been issued in 1995 by the then chief justice of the LHC.
However, he failed to produce the copy of the order that the court had sought and asked for more time. The hearing was adjourned till September 21.
The petitioner, Advocate Iqbal Jafri, has asked the court to abolish the requirement.
