Morgan Wallen's Nashville bar denied signage due to past controversies

Morgan Wallen's new bar, This Bar and Tennessee Kitchen, set to open in Nashville over Memorial Day Weekend, will not feature a large 20-foot neon sign advertising the establishment due to the city council's decision. The council voted against the sign, citing Wallen's past controversies, including a 2021 incident where he was caught on video using a racial slur and a recent arrest for allegedly throwing a chair from a rooftop.

Council member Delishia Porterfield voiced her opposition to the sign, referencing Wallen's past indiscretions, while council member Jordan Huffman stated that Wallen "gives all of us a bad name" due to his hateful comments and harmful actions.

Wallen has not publicly commented on the council's decision. His new bar, located on Broadway next to the Ryman Auditorium, will feature six bars, a rooftop, and multiple music stages.

This development follows Wallen's recent legal troubles, including an April arrest for throwing a chair from the rooftop of Eric Church's bar in Nashville. Wallen has since apologised for his behaviour and is cooperating with authorities. He waived his right to appear in court earlier this month and is set to appear on August 15.
