Naseerabad police station has submitted the charge sheet in the case registered against accused Farah Zahra, who was arrested on charges of running a car over a motorway policeman to avoid challan of the vehicle at the Motorway Toll Plaza.
Provisions of attempted murder have been added in the case filed against the accused. The police have sought 10 years imprisonment under section 324 [attempted murder] of the Pakistan Penal Code in the charge sheet submitted to the court.
Civil Judge Dr Muhammad Mumtaz Hanjara approved the charge sheet presented by the police for hearing. Copies of the charge sheet have been provided to the accused and a notice has been issued to charge the accused and she has been summoned to the court on May 28. The accused was also present in the courtroom.
After the court hearing, the accused was again sent to Adiala Jail. The accused has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Police registered the case on January 1, 2024, and did not take any action for 112 days. On the 112th day of the incident, a video of the incident was circulated on social media.
In the video, the accused could be seen arguing with a policeman and running her car over another cop. The police arrested the accused from her house on the 113th day of the incident. The bail of the accused has also been cancelled.
