In the most recent episode of Season 2 of Interview with the Vampire, titled "Do You Know What It Means to Be Loved by Death," the show delves into how vampire couple, Louis de Pointe du Lac and Armand met.

In earlier parts of the interview, Daniel appeared to have more control over the discussion, partly because some of Louis de Pointe du Lac's memories (played by Jacob Anderson) are not entirely reliable.

However, with Louis' ancient vampire lover, Armand (played by Assad Zaman), now more actively involved, Daniel must navigate through Armand's attempts to deflect and divert to uncover the truth.

After the events of last week's episode, it's evident that the vampire couple intends to project a unified front. However, as Armand moves from charmingly completing Louis' sentences to attempting to answer for him, leading both the interviewer and viewers to become increasingly suspicious.

As the interview resumes at the start of the episode, we become engrossed as Louis begins to recount the early days of his and Claudia's (played by Delainey Hayles) time in Paris.

Claudia resorts to pickpocketing to secure money or valuables for their comfort, while Louis takes an interest in photography.

However, Armand points out that it is customary for visiting vampires to introduce themselves to the local coven, a custom that Claudia and Louis ignore.

This irritates the members of Armand's group, although, to be fair, most of them also do not offer a warm welcome, opting instead to observe the newcomers from a distance.

Louis and Claudia move into an apartment, positioned between "students and sex workers," as noted by Armand.

While Claudia portrays herself as content, there are indications that Louis is not entirely happy, accepting their new environment begrudgingly.

A late-night discussion at a café becomes particularly revealing when Claudia directly challenges Louis, posing a seemingly straightforward question: Who is he, really?

Louis either doesn’t have an answer or struggles to find one. However, he may be spared from dwelling too long on his identity crisis when the vampires who claim Paris make contact.

For their initial encounter, Armand seizes the opportunity when Louis is exploring Paris alone.

He follows Louis through a park known for illicit meetings between men, initially observing him from afar before approaching him directly.

In the present, Louis and Armand's joint reminiscing about their initial encounter is a poignant moment, indicating its deep significance to both of them.

Louis believes that Armand intends to harm him. However, Armand's first words, spoken while looking up at Louis from under the brim of his hat, assure Louis that he has no such intentions.

In the park, Armand gives Louis his card before disappearing into the night.

New episodes of Anne Rice's Interview with the Vampire air every Sunday on Prime Video.
