Intermediate exams postponed in Sindh amid heatwave fears

CM’s spokesperson says exams, originally scheduled for May 22, will now commence on May 27

The government of Sindh on Sunday postponed annual intermediate examinations due to concerns over the predicted heatwave, Express News reported.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast that a severe heatwave could hit the major cities and plain areas of Punjab and Sindh from May 21 to May 27.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah approved a five-day delay following a recommendation from Provincial Minister for Universities and Boards, Muhammad Ali Malkani.

CM’s spokesperson confirmed that the exams, originally scheduled for May 22, will now commence on May 27.

In response to the CM’s directive, a notification has been issued confirming the change of dates.

On Saturday, Shaheed Benazirabad recorded the highest temperature at 49°C amid a heat wave that has seared swaths of the country.

The highest temperature on Saturday was 49°C in Shaheed Benazirabad, while Lahore recorded a high of 43.6°C and a low of 29.6°C.
