LAHORE:

The sessions court on Thursday granted interim bail to former PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry, requiring surety bonds of Rs50,000 in a case related to blocking traffic during a press conference held with PTI senior leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

Additional Sessions Judge Abdul Ghaffar issued a two-page written order. The order said that traffic congestion in Lahore is a common occurrence and may be caused by various reasons.

The order added that making the charge against Fawad Chaudhry for blocking traffic is not valid.

Meanwhile, Chief Justice Lahore High Court Malik Shahzad Ahmed Khan has postponed the proceedings on the plea of Fawad Chaudhry, requesting the court to allow him to appear via video link in all cases in Punjab.

The chief justice said he will decide the case as per laws and rules.

Fawad Chaudhry requested the court to nominate e-court, saying he could get his attendance marked by appearing in the e-court.

Talking to media after the hearing, Fawad Chaudhry said, “As many as 47 cases are registered against me. How am I expected to appear in all of them?”
