NBC’s classic sitcom Community is finally fulfilling creator Dan Harmon’s “six seasons and a movie” promise.

Years after the show's conclusion, Peacock confirmed the film's production in 2022, fulfilling a long-running fan dream.

Donald Glover, who played Troy on the sitcom, recently silenced rumors about scheduling conflicts. “It’s happening but I don’t know when. I swear, it’s happening,” the actor told Deadline.

Glover, also known as Childish Gambino, continued, “Everybody is hating on me on the internet and it’s not me! They’re like, ‘We know that you’re the reason.’ Maybe I was last year — maybe — but not this time.”

In an earlier interview with Entertainment Tonight in January, he clarified, “It's really just a schedule thing [but] I'm in. I'm all in,” adding that the script was finally “done.”

Harmon’s ‘Community’ followed the antics of a ragtag study group at Greendale Community College and garnered a devoted following despite its cancellation by NBC in 2014.

After a brief revival on Yahoo! Screen, the show's future seemed uncertain. However, fans can now rejoice as the original cast, including Donald Glover, Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Yvette Nicole Brown, Jim Rash, and Ken Jeong, are confirmed to return.

Though Glover and Brown were not included in the original announcement, they were later confirmed to be involved in the reboot.

While plot details remain a mystery, the movie will likely reunite the former Greendale students for more comedic adventures. However, fans shouldn't expect another epic paintball showdown.

Creator Dan Harmon revealed on the "Six Seasons and a Podcast" podcast in December 2022, "You're running around with guns in a school, which was never a good idea on TV even back then."

Teasing the film's plot further, Harmon told Variety in February 2024, “What can I tell you about it — it’s set on the campus of Greendale Community College. I'm super excited about it, and we're almost done.”

McHale echoed this sentiment, expressing his hope that filming would begin “this year” in a March 2024 interview with Deadline. “I really do think it's happening this year, and probably next week,” he said. “It's basically working around Donald's schedule.”

Jeong also spoke about cast members’ schedules in an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show’ in February, saying “It’s really about getting everyone’s schedules to line up,” and calling Glover “the biggest star in the world.”

Adding to the excitement, Alison Brie shared during an April 2024 appearance on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen, “I've read the script, and it's so funny.”

Without revealing any plot details, the actress said she hopes her character, Annie, “hasn't changed too much because I loved her just the way she was.”
