Bono insists that Coldplay “are not a rock band,” and "they should not be judged by rock rules.”
Bono from U2, an Irish rock band, has praised the British band, Coldplay, on an episode of BBC’s Sounds, eight-part series Music Uncovered: The Genius of Coldplay, presented by Greg James.
"I should mention Coldplay are not a rock band," the U2 frontman said.
"I hope that’s obvious. There is something much more interesting going on there, like the Isley Brothers or something,” Bono added.
"They should not be judged by rock rules.… Rage is the river running under most rock formations," Bono continued.
Speaking about the 'Clocks', from their second studio album 'A Rush Of Blood to the Head', the musician added, "Coldplay's music has a different source, and I think it's best revealed in this song 'Clocks.'”
The frontman recalls “punching the air in a manly but not aggressive way” when he heard the song for the first time.
Sharing his feelings about the song, he added, “It just sort of sticks to you, tighter than time itself.”
