Donald Trump likens migrants to Hannibal Lecter at Wildwood rally
During a campaign stop, former President Donald Trump praised the fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter while also criticizing migrants who enter the country.
“Has anyone ever seen ‘The Silence of the Lambs’? The late, great Hannibal Lecter. He’s a wonderful man,” Donald Trump said in Wildwood, New Jersey.
“He often times would have a friend for dinner. Remember the last scene? ‘Excuse me, I’m about to have a friend for dinner,’ as this poor doctor walked by. ‘I’m about to have a friend for dinner.’ But Hannibal Lecter. Congratulations. The late, great Hannibal Lecter.”
Saturday was not the first time Trump mentioned Hannibal Lecter.
In March, Trump likened migrants to Hannibal Lecter, describing them as “rough people, in many cases from jails, prisons, from mental institutions, insane asylums, … you know, insane asylums, that’s ‘Silence of the Lambs’ stuff,”as reported by NBC News.
“Hannibal Lecter, anybody know Hannibal Lecter? We don’t want ‘em in this country.”
Trump's rally on Saturday was one of the few he has held recently, as he juggles campaigning with his ongoing trial for accepting hush money in New York.
