RAWALPINDI:

A distressing incident unfolded in Rawalpindi when a young man was fatally shot and killed in the name of honour within the limits of the Airport police station.

As per the police report, Adnan Masih said in his statement that his 21-year-old brother, Haroon Tariq, was unmarried and worked as a rock wall graffiti artist.

On the day of the incident, Haroon had left home for work, accompanied by a student. Masih, along with his older brother were also walking some distance away from the victim as they headed to work.

Upon reaching Bhayi D Block Dhok Chaudhrain, Abdullah from Chak Jhumra, Faisalabad, appeared suddenly in front of Haroon. He said to Haroon, “Let me teach you a lesson” and started firing at him. After being shot, the victim died on the spot.

In an attempt to restrain Abdullah, he had also fired in their direction, but fortunately, they managed to evade unscathed. He further added that the root of the perpetrator’s animosity lies in his belief that Haroon Tariq was engaged in an illicit affair with his wife, Urooj. Consequently, Abdullah conspired with Urooj to orchestrate the murder of his brother.

SHO Airport Hamid Kazmi confirmed that a case has been filed and raids are underway to apprehend the culprit.
