US envoy hosts Pakistan cricket team ahead of T20 World Cup

United States Ambassador Donald Blome played host to the Pakistan cricket team for a meet-and-greet at the US Embassy in Islamabad on Monday, in a display of support for Pakistan ahead of the ICC T20 Cricket World Cup 2024.

Welcoming the national team players, alongside Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, to his residence, Ambassador Blome, conveyed his best wishes to the players as they prepared for their upcoming matches in the United States.

In a display of sports diplomacy, Ambassador Blome presented the team members a commemorative embassy cricket ball and an autographed softball bat.

In turn, the Pakistani team reciprocated the gesture by presenting the ambassador with a signed cricket bat and team jersey.

Ambassador Blome engaged in an impromptu cricket demonstration with members of the national team.

The United States is set to make history by hosting the T20 Cricket World Cup for the first time this June.

Adding to the excitement, both Pakistan and the United States are slated to compete in the same group stage, setting the stage for a highly anticipated matchup scheduled for June 6.
