Nigerian musician Wizkid has caused a stir on Twitter recently with his indirect jabs aimed at fellow artist Don Jazzy.
Wizkid, whose real name is Ayodeji Balogun, referred to Don Jazzy, the CEO of Mavins Records, as an "influencer."
When a fan asked Wizkid for his thoughts on tweets by Ladipoe, an artist signed to Mavins Records, referencing Wizkid's past statement that "Rap is Dead," Wizkid declined to engage, stating he has no interest in interacting with someone signed to an 'influencer' like Don Jazzy.

Ladipoe's tweets referenced a pivotal moment in 2022 when Wizkid declared in an interview with 10 magazine that “Rap is Dead.”
Ladipoe mentioned that Nigerian rappers, who persevered through a period when many declared hip hop as a genre dead, are now observing Afrobeat artists facing their own challenges or changes.
The online community reacted strongly to this exchange, with fans and observers sharing their opinions on the unfolding drama.
One fan humorously predicted Don Jazzy's response, “knowing Don Jazzy, his next post would probably be him tweeting like an ‘influencer’ or some type sh**”
Another fan wrote on X, “Everybody I introduce to you the first Record label influencer kaii Wizkid is a brutal man”
Don Jazzy and the singer Wizkid collaborated in 2014 on the “Surulere remix,” along with two other songs that were never released because, according to the Mavin CEO, they weren't "good enough."
In 2023, the pair engaged in friendly banter when Jazzy jokingly said he couldn’t sign Wizkid to the label because EME boss, Banky W, got to the Starboy before him.
