With AI technology fast becoming a hallmark of social media, popular YouTuber Saadur Rehman ‘Ducky Bhai’ took the bull by the horns to address the viral deepfakes of his wife Aroob Jatoi that have been blasted across the internet. Known otherwise for his light-hearted content, Ducky took to Instagram to appeal for the identity of the persons involved. To seal the deal, the content creator offered Rs1 million to the person who came forward with concrete information.
“I never thought I’d be posting such a video, and it gives me great sadness to do so,” he began in his Instagram reel, with a sombre-faced Jatoi at his side. “My wife’s dignity has been put at stake, and I need to prove to you that it has absolutely nothing to do with reality.”
Ducky revealed that before the video had been leaked, he and Jatoi had also been subject to threats, which they had ignored. However, a deepfake toying with Jatoi’s dignity and identity was not an issue either of them could overlook.
“It was my fans who told me it was out there, and asked me to post a clarifying statement,” he shared. To those who doubted that the video had been faked at all, Ducky showed a link to a separate video detailing the inner workings of deepfake technology, revealing just how deceptive such content can be. Showing the original picture of Jatoi that had been used to stitch the video together, Ducky then did a deep dive into his wife’s deepfake. He explained that at first, it had been difficult to determine that AI had been involved, due to the low quality of the video, which appeared to have been shot on a mobile phone. However, the influencer highlighted clues that betrayed the video’s true content.
“If you look closely, you can see that the door or wardrobe or whatever this is here is slightly bent,” explained the vlogger. “This kind of pixel distortion is evident in deepfake videos. And if you watch the whole thing in slow motion or frame by frame, you can see the face of the actual girl. Her expressions are robotic throughout, which is also a feature of deepfake videos.” Repeating his earlier statement, he added vociferously, “All of this proves that this video has absolutely nothing to do with reality.”
Jatoi often features in Ducky’s videos as the couple engage in back-and-forth witty banter. Sitting by her husband’s side as he ripped apart her deepfake, Jatoi made a poignant statement. “Whatever has happened to me has happened,” she said. “But I don’t want anyone else to go through the absolute misery I have been through in the past 24 hours. No woman should ever have to go through this.”
Appealing to his legion of fans, Ducky asked for help in tracking down the original video. Providing an email address, the YouTuber urged anyone with information to come forward with concrete evidence such as screenshots, voice notes, and call recordings, in exchange for the whopping sum of Rs1 million.
“Your name will not be shared with anyone,” Ducky promised. “I want to get to the bottom of this case. I just want the source video and the person who edited it.” Ensuring his fans that he would not go vigilante, Rehman added, “I need the information so I can take them through the proper channels of the law.”
Making one final statement, Jatoi added, “And if you see the deepfake video anywhere, please leave a comment saying that it is fake so that other people are also aware.”
