Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced the inclusion of 150 buses into Karachi's transport network during his inaugural visit to the city on Wednesday, marking his first official visit since assuming office.

Upon his arrival, the prime minister paid homage at Mazar-e-Quaid, offering prayers for the nation's progress and prosperity after signing the guestbook.

According to Express News, PM Shahbaz commended the efforts of the Sindh government in enhancing transportation services for the public during his visit to the Sindh government’s transport system.

He revealed the decision to allocate 150 buses following a request from Sindh Minister for Transport, Sharjeel Inam Memon, during a high-level meeting with provincial leadership.

The high-level meeting was convened at the Chief Minister's House, presided over by PM Shahbaz. Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Owais Leghari, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Musadik Malik, Jam Kamal, and Ataullah Tarar accompanied the prime minister, while Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, along with provincial ministers and officials, represented the host province.

During engagements with the business community, the prime minister expressed optimism regarding Pakistan's export potential, aiming for a doubling of export volumes within the next five years through collaboration with businesses.

He assured the formulation of a comprehensive policy framework, developed in consultation with the business sector, to stimulate export-led growth.

Earlier in the week, Karachi introduced the Pink Bus service catering exclusively to women and girls, offering free rides for the first two months and subsequently at a nominal fare of Rs50 per passenger.

PPP Women's Wing Chairperson MPA Faryal Talpur inaugurated the service, lauding its role in empowering women and fostering development and prosperity.
