Kidnapper held, two abductees rescued safely

Four accomplices already in police custody, they had demanded Rs20m to set abductees free

The Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC) of Karachi police apprehended one more suspect who allegedly kidnapped civilians and demanded ransom for their release.

As per AVCC police, two citizens, Abdullah and Shahid who had come from Punjab, were abducted on April 3 from Bahadurabad area. The abductors demanded a ransom of Rs20 million for their release. A case involving abduction of these citizens was lodged at Bahadurabad police station, and investigation was transferred to AVCC.

The alleged kidnapper identified as Adnan Ali, was nabbed by AVCC police in an operation near Khurshidpura graveyard on Hub River Road. Weapons were recovered from his possession.

The ACCC police have reported that four accomplices of Ali, namely, Sabir Ali, Wahid Ullah, Inayat-ur-Rehman, and Hazrat Ali, were apprehended on April 7. Their arrest took place after an encounter, during which all four of them sustained injuries. Both the hostages were safely rescued from the captivity.

Investigation is currently underway and their criminal records are being checked. It is anticipated that further revelations will come to the light.
