NA-8 candidate fined Rs10,000 for code violation

Shaukat appeared in court and submitted a reply which was deemed unsatisfactory

The Election Commission of Pakistan on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs10,000 on Shaukat Ullah who was a candidate from NA-8 (Bajaur).

The commission, in a statement, said the candidate was issued a show cause notice for violating code of conduct and added that he was asked to appear in the district monitoring officer.

He appeared the office on Tuesday and submitted a reply which was deemed unsatisfactory by the officer. Consequently, he was fined Rs10,000 and told to submit challan by April 18.

The ECP had issued strict guidelines for the last general elections, and warned of penalties for any violations.
