Rapper and singer Rod Wave, born Rodarius Marcell Green, was arrested by police over suspected involvement in a gang-related shooting in Florida.
Wave was released hours later, after police found that the charges against the rapper were determined not to be accurate, a police spokesperson said.
The shooting reportedly injured four people on the night of March 31st.
The Petersburg police issued a statement. They said shots were fired among what appeared to be a group of men engaged in a verbal argument.
The victims were three men in their 20s and 17-year-old woman. The group all suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
Once arrested, police took Rod to Manatee County Jail and identified him as a convicted felon.
Rod Wave’s legal team immediately labeled the arrest as incorrect.
The team responded to the police saying, "He didn't have any ammunition, and a simple public record check would've shown he's not a convicted felon."
The St. Petersburg Police Department later retracted their statement.
"It was later learned that the information provided was inaccurate and Green has since been released."
