HYDERABAD:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) President in Sindh, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, has emphasised the urgent need for a comprehensive operation targeting dacoits operating in riverbed areas and street criminals in urban centres.

In a statement released from Larkana on Tuesday, he highlighted the escalating incidents of robbery and kidnapping along the major transportation routes, including the Sukkur-Multan motorway and highways in Sukkur and Larkana divisions, which often lead to disruptions in traffic flow during the evening hours.

Khuhro lamented the brazen activities of dacoits and robbers who not only plunder innocent citizens but also resort to kidnapping for ransom along these highways, thereby directly challenging the authority of the Sindh government and law enforcement agencies.

He underscored the need for a concerted effort to address the proliferation of advanced weaponry among these criminal elements, emphasising the importance of investigating the sources of arms and ammunition supplied to riverbed-dwelling dacoits.

Moreover, he called for vigilance within the ranks of the police force to identify and root out any corrupt institutions aiding criminal networks.

Questioning the lack of action by the former caretaker government in Sindh during its eight-month tenure, Khuhro expressed optimism regarding the appointment of Sindh IG Ghulam Nabi Memon.

He urged Memon to implement effective measures to combat the menace of dacoity and ensure the safety and security of citizens across the province.
