Polio virus detected in one more sample

Previous two positive samples were collected on January 8 and February 13 from Hyderabad

HYDERABAD:

The polio virus has been found in the environmental sample of Hyderabad for third consecutive month this year. According to a report of the Regional Reference Laboratory for Polio Eradication at the National Institute of Health, Islamabad, the sample was taken from Tulsidas pumping station in city taluka. The type of virus has been classified as Type-1 Wild Poliovirus (WPV1), 99.89 per cent genetically linked to the virus detected in Karachi central on February 15. The previous two positive samples were collected on January 8 and February 13 from Hyderabad.
