KARACHI:

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) Chairman Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui said that 17 years have passed since the tragedy on May 12, but the wounds of the people of Karachi are fresh.

"The victims are still waiting for justice. People who have shed blood in Karachi are still roaming free today. We need to learn from these incidents," he said on the anniversary of the tragic day. "If the local police were active, such incidents would not be possible, but the country's elite have robbed ordinary citizens of their sense of security for their own personal interests, which have now turned into a sense of deprivation."
