Police have registered a murder case against unknown assailants following the killing of a young man by bandits near the sacrificial animals market in Karachi’s Essa Nagri area.
Farhan, 32, was shot and critically injured by muggers at the sacrificial animals market within the remits of PIB Colony police station on Saturday night. Farhan was rushed to hospital where police managed to record statement before he succumbed to his critical injuries. An investigation has been started against the unidentified assailants.
Meanwhile, Farhan was laid to rest in a local cemetery amidst grief and mourning. Mourners continue to visit the residence of Farhan, who is survived by his wife, to offer condolences.
Muhammad Shoaib, a friend of the late Farhan, recounted the tragic incident, stating that they were returning from the old Sabzi Mandi when Farhan, pillion riding with him on the motorcycle, alerted him about the approaching bandits. Despite attempts to evade, the assailants opened fire, critically injuring Farhan with a bullet on the back.

The deceased's brother revealed that Farhan, though married, had no children and was engaged in a milk business. He often ventured out at night for business transactions.
Family members and relatives of the deceased decried the impunity enjoyed by criminals and lamented the lack of accountability. They demanded that rising street crime must be curbed immediately, adding that if the government and law enforcers fail to apprehend perpetrators, they would take matters into their own hands.
