The Pakistani-Brooklyn-based Grammy-winning singer Arooj Aftab is set to dazzle audiences at the iconic Glastonbury Festival in London this June. Aftab, known for her ethereal vocals and fusion of classical and contemporary sounds, took to her Instagram to share the exciting news with her fans.

“UK make plans! We are back at Glastonbury, June 2024,” joyously announced the 39-year-old in her IG post, sharing a poster with her picture for the event. Aftab also shared the highly-anticipated line-up in the carousel post, promising performances from a number of old and new artists including LCD Soundsystem, PJ Harvey and Cyndi Lauper.

Female acts will fill two of the three headline slots at Britain's Glastonbury Festival for the first time in June when Dua Lipa and SZA top the bill alongside rock-band Coldplay, organisers said on Thursday.

Country pop star Shania Twain will take the Sunday afternoon "legend" slot. British-Albanian Dua Lipa, whose hits include New Rules and One Kiss, will make her Pyramid Stage debut shortly after the release of third album Radical Optimism.

Coldplay, in contrast, are old hands at Worthy Farm. They will be headlining for a record fifth time. US R&B star SZA is the biggest surprise in the line-up. The 34-year-old's acclaimed album SOS won a Grammy last month, and single Kill Bill has spent months on the British charts.

The festival, which sold out in less than an hour when tickets were released in November, was criticised last year for an all-male top of the bill.

Earlier this year, Aftab missed out on double Grammy glory after she didn't win the accolades for any of the two nominations she received nods in. The Mohabbat singer was nominated for Global Music Performance and Best Jazz Alternate Album.

Aftab's Love in Exile bagged a nomination for Best Jazz Alternate Album while Shadow Forces received a nod for new vocal or instrumental global music recordings. It is pertinent to mention that Aftab made history as the first Pakistani artist to win music's highest honours in 2022.
