SIC names Zain Qureshi as NA parliamentary leader

PAKISTAN:

The Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) has named Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-backed candidate Zain Qureshi as the party’s parliamentary leader in the lower house of parliament.

His name was submitted to National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq by the SIC leaders.

Zain is the son of incarcerated PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

The PTI-backed independent candidates who had emerged victorious in the February 8 polls had joined SIC as the party was deprived of its iconic ‘bat’ symbol after its intra-party polls were declared null and void.
