Former federal minister Faisal Vawda on Sunday said that all those involved in the May 9 events, including Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, will face arrest and trial in military courts.

In an interview with a private TV channel, Vawda emphasised the importance of maintaining the state's authority, stating, "Countries disintegrate when the writ of the state is questioned. A state acts like a mother but you don’t hurt your mother."

Addressing the question of punishment for those implicated in the riots, Vawda affirmed that justice would be served regardless of the individual's position, even if they hold a high office like that of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa CM.

Regarding the current political landscape, Vawda expressed scepticism about former ruling party’s prospects, remarking, "PTI can only form government on the moon at the moment but not in Pakistan."

He predicted further challenges ahead for PTI, cautioning that the party's current political manoeuvres may lead to their downfall.

Highlighting the need for inclusive dialogue, Vawda urged PTI leadership to engage with all stakeholders, including individuals he deems as adversaries.

"When you can go to [Mahmood Khan] Achakzai whom you used to call Pakistan’s enemy. When you can approach Maulana [Fazlur Rehman] then you should initiate dialogue with everyone," he stated.
