PESHAWAR:

Muhammad Riaz, an elected independent member of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Assembly representing Kolai-Palas Kohistan PK-33, has officially joined the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

The development has bolstered the PML-N's presence in the provincial assembly, bringing its total number of members to 8.

The new addition has tipped the balance in favour of the PML-N, surpassing the count of members from the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F). With the surge, the prospects of the PML-N securing the coveted position of opposition leader have considerably brightened.

In the aftermath of the general elections, JUI-F clinched 7 seats in the provincial assembly. In contrast, PML-N secured 5 seats, while Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Awami National Party (ANP) secured 4 and 1 seat(s) respectively.

Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-Progressive (PTI-P) secured 2 seats.
