Here's why Indian film 'Article 370' won't premiere in Kashmir

Cast and crew offered insights into the prospect

Emerging from the triumph of her recent film OMG 2, actor Yami Gautam is preparing for her upcoming venture, Article 370. Helmed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale and produced by Aditya Dhar, Jyoti Deshpande, and Lokesh Dhar, the film also features Priyamani in a significant role.

During an exclusive conversation with Pinkvilla, the trio engaged in a comprehensive discussion covering various facets of the film, including the intriguing prospect of hosting its premiere in the scenic locale of Kashmir. As the eagerly anticipated film is slated for release on February 23, 2024, the cast and crew offered insights into their considerations regarding the prospect of a premiere in the picturesque region, around which the plot revolves.

Aditya mentioned that while there were discussions about it, logistical considerations, especially due to Yami's current situation with her baby, led them to opt for a more local approach. Yami concurred, emphasising the unpredictable nature of life and the need to go with the flow and improvise.

"Definitely, there was a discussion," shared Aditya, when asked about the same. He continued, "But knowing where we are right now with the baby, we had to reduce a lot of travelling. That's why we are doing this interview also via Zoom. Because of that, we had to take the decision that keep it local only mostly so that it's easier on Yami; otherwise, we would love to do that for sure." 

Yami added, "You're spot on. That was definitely one of the important discussions, but as someone has said, life is a box of chocolates. You never know which one you're going to get. So we go with the flow, and we improvise."

For more context, a notable announcement was made by Yami and Aditya during the trailer launch event – they are expecting their first child. The movie Article 370 marks the second collaboration between Aditya and Yami following their success with URI. The film, set to release on February 23, 2024, explores the narrative surrounding the revocation of Article 370, which conferred the power on the region to have a separate constitution, a state flag, and autonomy of internal administration. When abrogated, all of the Indian Constitution would apply to the state.
