PESHAWAR:

The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) cabinet of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) has prepared a comprehensive report about the party’s crushing defeat in the February 8 general elections in the province.

Sources within the JUI-F told The Express Tribune that the initial report has been prepared but it has been decided not to make it public till policy guidelines are given by the central leadership.

The provincial cabinet held its meeting on Sunday evening in Peshawar. The meeting was presided over by provincial Amir Maulana Attaur Rehman.

“The meeting discussed the different aspects and reasons which led to the party’s complete defeat in the recent general elections at the hand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and also reviewed reports submitted by the district administrations,” said an official of JUI-F, adding that the meeting was informed that the report has been finalized but it would be released once a clear-cut policy is given by the central leaders.

“Once the policy is given then the provincial cabinet would also present its report,” he added.

Meanwhile, a gathering is set to convene in Islamabad, bringing together the leadership of JUI-F, including members of the central cabinet, to analyze the party’s recent electoral setback.

Aslam Ghuri, the central spokesperson of JUI-F, disclosed that the meeting, scheduled for February 14, will be attended by Majlis Amala from all provinces and the central cabinet. Central Amir Maulana Fazl Rehman will preside over the discussions.

Expressing concerns over the election outcome, Ghuri stated, “JUI-F is apprehensive about the final results. The party feels marginalized, with seats seemingly allocated by external forces.

However, we are determined to confront this challenge, and a comprehensive strategy will be formulated following thorough deliberations.”
