Mastermind of deadly Balochistan blasts killed in Qilla Saifullah IBO

Abdul Shakoor of Da'ish planned to conduct high-profile suicide bombing attacks in province

The mastermind behind Wednesday’s deadly blasts in Balochistan was killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Qila Saifullah district, the military’s media wing stated.

According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Friday, a fire exchange took place during an IBO.

Terrorist Abdul Shakoor, aka Nauman and Abu Hamza Khurasani, of Da’ish was killed during the operation conducted on the reported presence of high profile terrorist.

“The killed terrorist was the mastermind of recent bombings in Qila Saifullah and Pishin on 7 February 24 and was highly wanted by the law enforcement agencies.”

The ISPR stated that the high-value target was planning on committing further acts of terrorism.

“He also planned to conduct high profile suicide bombing attacks in Balochistan, which have been successfully averted due to timely and prompt action by security forces and the intelligence agencies."

Two simultaneous bomb explosions targeted election offices in the Pishin and Qila Saifullah districts of Balochistan, claiming the lives of 28 people and wounded dozens on the eve of general elections.

The initial explosion claimed the lives of 16 individuals in the Pishin district, while a subsequent blast in Qila Saifullah resulted in 12 fatalities. Da’ish claimed responsibility for both assaults, asserting that motorbikes laden with explosives were employed in each incident.
