76% of Pakistanis ready to accept election results: survey

IPSOS says 77% in rural, 74% in urban areas ready to accept results, signaling optimism for democracy's continuity

As per the IPSOS survey results, a substantial majority of Pakistanis, accounting for 76 per cent, are open to accepting the outcomes of the 2024 election with only seven per cent indicating reluctance to acknowledge the results of tomorrow's polls, while 17 per cent refrain from expressing a definitive opinion on the matter.

Ipsos, a market research firm has released the Pakistan Pulse Survey, shedding light on the sentiments of the Pakistani populace regarding the transparency and conduct of Thursday’s elections.

The survey indicates a strong determination, enthusiasm, and optimism among the people towards the continuity of democracy and the electoral process.

The survey reveals that both rural and urban populations show a high level of acceptance towards the election results, with 77 per cent in rural areas and 74 per cent in urban areas expressing willingness to accept the outcome.

Furthermore, the survey suggests that there is a more positive perception regarding the transparency of the 2024 elections and the acceptance of their results in rural areas compared to urban areas.

Regionally, the acceptance of election results varies, with 79 per cent in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, 78 per cent in Punjab, 63 per cent in Balochistan, and 74 per cent in Sindh expressing readiness to accept the outcome.

Conversely, 53 per cent of people in Islamabad are reported to accept the election results.

Interestingly, the survey also highlights that 56 per cent of individuals who do not intend to vote still express willingness to accept the results of the election, indicating a broad acceptance of the electoral process among the populace.

Overall, the survey findings indicate an optimistic outlook among the people of Pakistan regarding the transparency and conduct of the 2024 elections. They view the continuation of democracy as crucial for the country's development and progress.
