LAHORE:

Two anti-terrorism courts directed the prosecution to ensure the presence of PTI founding chairman Imran Khan via video link in seven FIRs regarding the May 9 riots on the next hearing as they failed to do so on Saturday.

One ATC heard bail matters in three FIRs while the other one heard in four.

During the proceedings, the prosecution and the Adiala Jail authorities defended their failure with different arguments which were strongly opposed by Imran’s counsel, Barrister Salman Safdar.

The prosecution claimed there were some technical issues while the Adiala jail authorities said proceedings of another case regarding the unlawful marriage were under way. However, the counsel rejected their claims, terming the move a delaying tactic.

However, both the ATCs fixed the next date with clear directions to the prosecution to make appropriate arrangements for ensuring Imran’s presence through video link on the next hearing.
