Holy Family opens after revamp today

Foundation stone for Pir Wadhai Mor to Katcheri Chowk project to be laid

RAWALPINDI:

Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi will inaugurate the Rawalpindi Holy Family Hospital (HFH) after its revamp on Friday (today).

Naqvi is set to inaugurate various projects in Rawalpindi including the Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute (PKLI) at the Rawalpindi Institute of Urology and Transplantation (RIUT).

It is important to note that this hospital has not yet functioned fully as an RIUT but now, following the functional model of Lahore's PKLI, kidney and liver transplantations will begin here.

Moreover, the foundation stone for the Pir Wadhai Mor to Katcheri Chowk Signal Free Corridor project, estimated at Rs7.58 billion, will be laid today in the garrison city.

Among the projects scheduled for inauguration today is the restoration and carpeting of Asghar Mall Road, completed by Rawalpindi Development Authority for Rs129.853 million. The Holy Family Hospital, the largest in Rawalpindi, underwent a complete revamping costing Rs3,080 million under the supervision of the C&W department.

Health, road infrastructure, and education projects worth billions of rupees were completed in Rawalpindi city by the Punjab caretaker government.

Other notable completed projects include the rehabilitation of the sixth road station of the Metro Bus Service, costing Rs100 million, and the revamping of the Out Patient Department (OPD) at Benazir Bhutto General Hospital (BBGH) for Rs297 million.

The Rawalpindi Gymkhana Club was also revamped by the C&W Department for Rs320 million.

Rashid Minhas Road saw rehabilitation and revamping for Rs200 million under the municipal corporation.

Furthermore, a Business Facilitation Centre has been established by the Rawalpindi Development Authority at Rs9.400 million to support business activities.

In addition, the chief minister will inaugurate the municipal library's upgrade adjacent to the RDA office, costing Rs28 million under the municipal corporation. A meeting with businessmen from the RCCI is also on the agenda for CM Naqvi’s visit to Rawalpindi.

The RIUT, a mega health project which was initiated in 2012, remains incomplete despite repeated promises. Operating without kidney transplant services, the hospital’s limited offerings include outpatient, emergency, and dialysis units.
