Digitisation of slums begins across Pindi

RAWALPINDI:

The Punjab Board of Revenue has initiated digitisation of land records for slums in all six districts of Rawalpindi.

Comprising 160 slums, including Christian and Kashmiri settlements, both large and small, the digitisation process has commenced for records in rural and urban areas alike. Rawalpindi Commissioner Liaquat Chatha has directed the completion of this computerisation within three months.

The revenue department asserts that the digitisation of government and private lands, including maps, is underway province-wide, covering all six districts of Rawalpindi Division—Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Tala Gang, and Jhelum. This online recording system will enable citizens to easily access agricultural, commercial, and residential land ownership maps with just a click on their mobile devices.

The digitisation initiative aims to facilitate online property registrations, buying, and selling, with all registry fees and taxes to be submitted online. Since the launch of the online e-registration system in Rawalpindi district nine days ago, 2985 registrations have already been completed.

Following the success of the system, the online e-registration process is set to extend to the tehsil level.
