161 polling stations declared sensitive

Election in district would be held for four National Assembly and eight Punjab Assembly seats

MUZAFFARGARH:

The authorities have declared 161 of the total 1,226 polling stations in Muzaffargarh district sensitive with respect to security risks.

Deputy Commissioner Mian Usman Ali said on Tuesday that training of the polling staff in the district had been completed.

He said all arrangements had been finalised to organise the general elections on February 8 in a free, fair and transparent manner.

Presiding over a meeting with the returning officers and assistant AROs, he said all the election-related activities were continuing peacefully.

The official said the arrangements had been finalised in the light of instructions from the ECP and the code of conduct. District Election Commissioner Muhammad Aslam said all administrative and election officials had performed duties as a team to complete the arrangements well ahead of the polling day.

He said the ROs, AROs and monitoring officers would be provided security.

Election in the district would be held for four National Assembly and eight Punjab Assembly seats.

He added that 3,470 polling booths would be set up in the polling stations across the district.

Meanwhile, Additional DC (General) Muhammad Yousuf Cheena held a meeting with the candidates and briefed them on the code of conduct issued by the ECP.
