KARACHI:

Pasban Democratic Party (PDP) General Secretary, Iqbal Hashmi stressed the need of a complete overhaul of the old school examination system.

He said, the current system of the colonial era is plagued by corruption, enabling the affluent to purchase high marks for their children through illicit means within the education boards.

Hashmi warned that if the education system is not reformed, poverty and deprivation will persist. He advocated for the adoption of a modern academic system, with a focus on making vocational education and technical training compulsory to the education framework.

He proposed the establishment of a reform commission to be tasked to review and modernise the school examination and grading system. Additionally, he suggested incorporating computers and artificial intelligence to ensure a corruption-free and error-free examination process.

Hashmi also called for an investigation into the roles of examiners and copy checkers to ensure accurate marking, based on students’ actual performance.
