The body of a man believed to be in his 30s was found hanging from a main bridge between Faizabad
and Zero Point in the federal capital on Monday.
According to the police, a rope was tied around the victim’s neck. No one noticed the body hanging from the bridge for several hours in dense fog, they added.
The police said that the chemical examiner's report would determine whether the man committed suicide or was murdered. The victim’s identity card and other belongings were found in his pocket and the police suspected that he ended his life by tying a rope around his neck. The deceased was identified as Omar Shaham of Mardan district.
The Aabpara police handed over the body to his heirs after completing the medico-legal formalities.

Motorists continued to drive on the busy highway without noticing that a body was hanging from the bridge. Later, the patrolling police received information, rushed to the spot, and took the body in possession after cutting the rope. Rescue 1122 workers transported the body to the PIMS.
The police said that Omar resided with his parents in a slum locality of Sector I-91. He took his life after arguing with the family members, the sources added. Omar’s father Bahadur told the police that said his son was suffering from a mental illness. However, the sources said that the way the clothes and shoes were kept in order on the ground didn’t imply the victim was mentally upset. They added that the body samples had been sent to the chemical examiner after the autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death.
The police turned down the family’s request to skip the post-mortem examination. The police said that a complaint had been lodged but a case would be registered by the autopsy report.
