ISLAMABAD:

The management of the National Press Club (NPC) has lodged a complaint with the Kohsar police against the ongoing protest outside the premises on the issue of missing persons.

The NPC, in its application to SHO Kohsar Shafqat Faiz, expressed concern over the traffic congestion and difficulties faced by its members and guests due to the ongoing protest by Dr Mahrang Baloch – a human rights activist and leader of the Baloch Yekjehti Committee (BYC).

“Over the past few weeks, the protest has led to traffic jams in front of the press club, disrupting the arrival of members and guests,” the complaint said and added that the security issues resulted in the cancellation of events scheduled at the club.

The press club, known for hosting political, social, foreign, diplomatic, and other prominent personalities at its events, is currently dealing with heightened security concerns. Therefore, the press club has requested that Baloch protesters be relocated elsewhere.

Meanwhile, Islamabad traders, through a video message, appealed to the prime minister, among others, citing deep financial losses and adverse impacts on their businesses due to the sit-in. They highlighted the severe disruption to their basic rights and the substantial financial losses incurred daily by keeping businesses closed.
