Pakistan to host int’l rescue challenge

Pakistan is expected to host the first International Rescue Challenge and the Asia Pacific Earthquake Response Exercise (ERE) this year.

Pakistan Rescue Team (PRT) Commander Dr Rizwan Naseer made this announcement at the United Nations INSARAG New Year Teleconference on Wednesday.

The conference provided an opportunity for INSARAG Regional Chairs for 2024 to be officially introduced and to thank the outgoing Regional Chairs 2023 of last year.

While speaking during the Conference, Dr Naseer thanked the United Nations INSARAG Secretariat Geneva for their support and guidance during the process leading to the classification of Pakistan’s Rescue 1122 Team.

He also shared key regional strategic directions for 2024, including hosting the first International Rescue Challenge and Asia Pacific Earthquake Response Exercise 2024 in Pakistan.
