At least five people, including three children, were injured in an explosion near a private hospital in Quetta on Wednesday.

According to reports, the blast took place in a garbage dump located on the provincial capital's Zarghoun road area. Soon after the incident, rescue services rushed to the spot and shifted the injured to nearby medical facilities.

Police and security forces initiated an investigation and collected evidence from the blast site. The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was also called in to clear the area and assist in the investigation.

Earlier, a child died while another sustained injuries when a bomb exploded in Balochistan’s Machh district. The explosion occurred close to the Machh police station.

As a consequence of the blast, a wave of fear and uncertainty swept through Machh bazar. Shopkeepers reacted by closing their shutters to safeguard themselves and their businesses from any potential fallout.

Balochistan has been marred with militancy for decades. However, the security forces have managed to bring a sense of normality to the province in recent years.

In 2023, a total of 15,063 intelligence-based operations were executed in Balochistan, resulting in the killing of 109 terrorists.
