Tech Desk January 16, 2024

The much-awaited Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2024 is scheduled to take place tomorrow, January 17, where the company is expected to launch Samsung Galaxy smartphones, a new AI tool, and a health/fitness ring.

Expected to take place in San Jose, California, many enthusiasts await the launch of Galaxy 24 series and its AI tool, which was shown late last year.

Samsung Galaxy S24 series

The company is expected to announce the flagship S24 series, which will include S24 Plus and Ultra. The initial model is expected to have 0.1 inches bigger screen than the Galaxy S23’s 6.1-inch display, with a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display and a higher peak brightness of 2,600 nits or more, and a 4,000 mAh battery.

According to leaks, the Galaxy S24 Plus is expected to have a flat-screen without curved edges, resulting in slimmer bezels. Battery capacity will increase to 4,900 mAh with a 50MP main camera. The Galaxy S24 Ultra will have the most significant changes in the series, featuring a titanium frame, a flat-screen with no curved edges, and slimmer bezels. The device will have a 6.8-inch WQHD display with a 1440p resolution, a 200MP primary camera, 50MP and 10MP telephoto cameras, and a 12MP ultrawide camera. The battery will be 5,000 mAh.

Galaxy AI

This AI-powered system has three main components; Samsung Gauss Language, to translate languages and answer questions, Samsung Gauss Code, for developers to edit and write code, and Samsung Gauss Image, a tool for generating images. It remains to be seen how well Samsung will compare to other AI generative platforms like ChatGPT.

Samsung Galaxy Ring

Samsung is releasing a new fitness ring in an effort to compete against the Oura Ring and similar wearables. The device will feature activity tracking, heart rate monitoring, and sleep analysis features.

Stream the event online, through Samsung's website or social channels like YouTube at 10 AM PT (11 PM PST).
